For example https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/12828728188 and https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/12828728725

Both were created in MapComplete Artwork theme, then picture was added from gallery (and supposedly successfully uploaded and processed, and displayed in MapComplete), then extra questions were answered. However, no panoramax tags were added to OSM. Closing and opening same artwork in MapComplete few minutes later no longer shows picture!
Here is example video (showing only second half as I luckily found the bug before closing the mapcomplete, but you can see picture was displayed in MapComplete):

possibly related to #2342

I've seen similar behaviour. Might be specifically if the item is freshly created...

Allright, so:

  1. My error reporting was broken, so I have no idea how big the impact of this bug is
  2. And I cannot immediately replicate this... But it definitively is an issue

BTW, the images are safely on the server, it is just that the link is not correctly made. They can thus be retrieved via the 'browse nearby pictures'-feature and the damage can be undone

Thanks. In those two particular pictures where I noticed the problem, I've already worked around the bug by uploading them to Wikimedia Commons (luckily I had copy of them stored in the gallery) and using wikimedia_commons link, but I would certainly like to know if more of my uploads are broken too, but it is not easy to find out currently. 😢

Some tool which looks for pictures from panoramax.mapcomplete.org and reports which one don't have nearby OSM element which references them would be useful (especially if one could filter that output by their own username).

I created a small script which fetches all metadata from panoramax and queries overpass. 167 images don't have a reference from OSM to them, so that is the biggest possible scope of this bug. This includes images created for notes, so will be a lot lower in practice.

I've seen they're have been some fixes for this 5 days ago, but just to let you know I experienced the issue yesterday too (if feedback helps)
